Paul Flora was born in Glurns in Austria on 6 June 1922 and died 15 May 2009 in Innsbruck. He started working for the Munich ›Neue Zeitung‹ in 1949, and in 1957 he became the political caricaturist of the Hamburg newspaper ›Die Zeit‹. He drew over 3500 political caricatures in fourteen years, as well as doing innumerable ›free‹ drawings which have been shown in collections all over the world.
