Othmar Keel, born in Einsiedeln in 1937, is emeritus professor of Old Testament Exegeses and the Biblical environment. He has revolutionised the interpretation of the Bible by adducing Ancient Near Eastern objects, images and symbols. The Bible + Orient Museum in Fribourg came out of this research. His work has been translated into numerous languages. Othmar Keel is married, has two children and four grandchildren. He lives in Fribourg.
